Fun Run Registration is Open - SIGN UP TODAY!

It’s time! Our annual SPARK Fun Run fundraiser event is coming up on October 10!  For those new to school, the Fun Run is an annual event.  Students will collect donations leading up to the event, and, on October 10, each grade will participate in a COLOR run around the track set up outside the Hirsch House. It’s a festive event for all, and parents are welcome to attend!

You can now register your student(s) for our SPARK Fun Run!  Our goal is to raise $31,000 for Curriculum Enhancements, Technology and Operations Support, and Teacher Appreciation efforts at the school. Signing up is easy and comes with a fun prize for your student(s)!

    Dismissal Changes

If your child has a permanent change, their permanent bag tag should be updated.  For example, now that clubs have started and they are in Art Club every Monday, their permanent bag tag needs to reflect this.  For dismissal changes, email your child’s teacher and Mrs. Taylor at Odette.Taylor@atlanta.k12.ga.us. All dismissal changes must be requested before 12:00 PM each day.

    Yearbook

The 2025-2026 Yearbook is here! 5th Grade Ads due November 1. Don’t miss out on the memories, laughs, and all the SPARK magic!

    Looking for Plant Donations

Now is a great time to split plants in the yard and beautify the community! 5th grade is working with SPARK’s Flower Guild to beautify our school grounds while learning about erosion and deposition.   We are currently looking for donations of non-invasive shade perennials and low growing evergreens.  Think things like Ferns, Hosta, Periwinkle, Lenten Rose, and monkey grass; we aren’t picky.  Please drop donations by right side exit of the car rider line by the sign that says “Plants” and email Mrs. Sulchek (kara.sulchek@apsk12.org) so we can get them in the ground.  Giving a special thank you to Lauren Pallotta and Flower Guild for continuing to make our school grounds look amazing!

    Volunteer Opportunities

CLICK HERE to learn about volunteer opportunities at SPARK and how to obtain your volunteer clearance! From volunteering at SPARK Community Events to volunteering in the SPARK Media Center/Library - there’s an opportunity for everyone!

    Absent?

If your child is absent, please send your written excuse to Mrs. Taylor and your child’s teacher so that it can be properly recorded.

A message from your principal

  • Dear SPARK Families,

We have so many wonderful things coming up at SPARK, and we can’t wait to share them with you!

First up is one of our favorite traditions, Pastries with Parents. This special morning gives you the chance to step into your child’s world, see the amazing things they’ve been working on, and offer the kind of encouragement that makes them beam with pride. Because this event is always well loved, we encourage families to pre-register for security check-in and, if possible, walk to campus since parking will be limited.

Soon after, we’ll be celebrating our annual Boosterthon Fun Run! Not only does Boosterthon bring fun and energy through their daily SEL lessons, but they also help us meet our PTO fundraising goals. Funds raised go to PTO, which provides the curricular resources that make personalized learning possible for our students. We hope you’ll join us on Friday, October 10th at SPARK’s main campus to cheer on your child during the Fun Run! A detailed schedule will be shared with families next week. You can also learn more about PTO’s mission here.

At home, you can support your child’s learning journey by encouraging just 15 minutes a night in IXL, Lexia, or Zearn. Little daily habits like these make a big difference in helping our students grow.

Looking ahead, please remember that October 13–17 is Fall Break. We encourage families to take vacations and family time during scheduled breaks, since student attendance is factored into our state school ratings. On Monday, October 13th, the district has designated an extended learning day, and teachers will provide optional activities students can complete at home. If you’ll be in town that week and looking for camp options, please check in with our wonderful community partners—Intown Tumbling, ZTunes Music, Contact Point, Horizon Kids, Jewish Kids Group, and Community Music School.

Thank you, families, for the many ways you support your children and our school community. These next few weeks will be filled with celebration, learning, and togetherness—we’re so glad you’re part of it!

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Jennifer Toney
