I am Mrs. LaTarsha Mills-McKie, the Assistant Principal at Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy (CSKYWLA), and I am here to serve you! I have been an educator for more than 27 years. I graduated from Tuskegee University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Shortly after that, I received a Master of Science and Educational Specialist degree in Community Psychology/School Counseling from Troy State University.

I taught at Gideons Elementary as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher for five years. After that, I transitioned into school counseling and served at Dunbar Elementary. I moved up to the middle school setting and worked at Parks Middle School, serving the Mechanicsville and Pittsburgh communities for several years. In 2012, I was blessed to have the opportunity to serve at CSKYWLA.

Every girl has a dream with her name on it, and it is my goal to support her to reach that goal. Each young lady is a bright diamond, and sometimes diamonds have to be brushed off and polished. That’s my job. Together, each of our young ladies can shine bright and change the world!
