Dear John Lewis Invictus Academy Parents & Community Members,
As we begin summer recess and preparation for the upcoming school year, I want to share information with you regarding a transition of leadership for John Lewis Invictus Academy.
It is with great pleasure that I share that Dr. Bryan Johnson will be recommending the appointment of Mr. Langston Longley as the next principal of John Lewis Invictus Academy. Pending approval by the Board during the June meeting, Mr. Longley will officially assume the role effective immediately.
Since joining Atlanta Public Schools in 2004, Mr. Longley has served with distinction in a variety of roles, including teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal Fellow, and most recently, Principal within the Douglass Cluster for the past ten years. His leadership was recognized in 2023 when he was named Principal of the Year by Communities in Schools. His leadership has been marked by a focused dedication to improving student achievement and creating a supportive, high-performing learning environment.
With a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our students, Mr. Longley is committed to fostering a school environment that is both supportive and academically rigorous. His leadership will continue to inspire students, staff and the community.
I want to thank the GO Team and the entire John Lewis Invictus Academy community for their thoughtful engagement and input during this transition process. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Sincerely,
Forrestella Taylor
Cluster Superintendent, Douglass Cluster
