  • Greetings!

My name is Régene McKinney, and I am a Mathematics Instructor here at Phoenix Academy.  I am a native of Atlanta, Southwest Atlanta to be exact, and am a product of the Atlanta Public Schools System.  After high school, I attended The North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC and received my B.S. in Computer Science. After graduating, I went to work for the Department of Defense as an Information Security Engineer.  A few years later, I decided I really wanted to follow in my mother's footsteps and become an educator. I went back to school and received my M.A.T. in Secondary Education Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels) and a M.S. in Educational Technology Leadership from The George Washington University. Finally, my love for technology in education propelled me to receive my Ed.S. in Learning, Design & Technology from The University of Georgia (Go Dawgs), so that I could help teachers and students transition from the Web 2.0 world to this now Web 3.0 world!

I find mathematics and data fascinating and a necessary part of our daily lives! This is why I teach - to help students think logically and analytically about their networks and processes. In essence, that is what Mathematics is all about!

I look forward to meeting each and every one of you and welcome you to this new school year! Let's get started and finish Phoenix Strong!
